THE FUTURE OF ART IS BRIGHTER THAN EVER

The success of most international galleries at the Contemporary International art fair, ARCO 2025, celebrated in Madrid, indicates a promising year for the international art market

ART AS A POLITICAL STATEMENT

ARCOmadrid 2025, held from March 5 to 9, featured a wide range of contemporary art with a focus on social and political issues. One of the highlights was the "Wametisé: ideas for an Amazofuturism" section which presented 24 artists exploring Amazonian culture and its intersection with contemporary art, emphasizing nature and spirituality.

A key theme of ARCO 2025 was its focus on important political topics. Many artists addressed global issues such as the Gaza conflict, the war in Ukraine, and the rise of far-right politics. One notable work, "White Washing" by Eugenio Merino, featured plates with the faces of far-right leaders in a dishwasher, critiquing the media’s role in normalizing extremist figures. This reflected the fair’s commitment to using art as a way to comment on and challenge current societal issues.

Overall, ARCO 2025 successfully blended innovative art with important social discussions, solidifying its role as a leading event in the global art scene.

AMAZONIA IN THE SPOTLIGHT

At ARCO 2025, the focus on the Amazon was aimed at drawing attention to critical issues like environmental protection and the rights of indigenous communities.

The event highlighted the region’s culture and the challenges it faces, such as deforestation and climate change. By featuring art that reflects the Amazon, this annual event sparked important conversations about how we can protect both the environment and indigenous traditions.

This central focus, being a key topic of the event, allowed visitors to better grasp the profound connection between art, culture, and the global efforts required to tackle ecological challenges. It served as a powerful catalyst for inspiring both reflection and action on these urgent issues.
